Wednesday Night Bible Study (Flatonia Baptist Church)

Exodus 6:6-8 • Wednesday, September 4, 2024
The first session of the study of The Exodus. As we begin this study, we will consider questions like:
How do we know about God?
What makes the God of the Bible different than gods of other faiths?
When, how, and why were the first 5 books of the Bible written? 
Why did God act the way He did in the Exodus narrative?
As we do, we'll discover that God desires for us to know Him and His actions always teach us about His character and nature. As we learn about His faithfulness through the generations, we can have confidence that He will continue to be faithful to us in the days ahead.

Genesis 1-12 • Wednesday, September 11, 2024
As we continue the study of the Exodus, we will examine God's call to Abram in Genesis 12 to leave his homeland and travel to Canaan, along with God's promise that this new land would ultimately belong to Abram's descendants. We will also examine some of the beliefs and practices of the pagan peoples that inhabited the area and see how the Exodus narrative helped the people differentiate the one true God from the pagan gods of the surrounding cultures.

Genesis 12-23 • Wednesday, September 18, 2024
God established His covenant with Abram - changing his name to Abraham and promising to make him the father of a great nation and bless the entire world through his descendants. In this session we look at the Abrahamic covenant in all its various statements and seek to understand God's purposes in choosing Abraham's family as His covenant people.

Genesis 24-50 • Wednesday, September 25, 2024
As succeeding generations experience the covenant with God, they are shown how powerful, good, and faithful He is - and this can be a source of hope and determination for us as well.

As we transition into Exodus, we will look at how God responded to His people's plight in Egypt.

The circumstances surrounding the birth and early life of Moses give us a glimpse of how God works through His people to accomplish His purposes.

Moses encounters God in the burning bush on Mt. Sinai and must choose whether to be obedient to God's call.

Moses and Aaron have their first confrontation with Pharaoh, which leads to discouragement among the people and a key promise from God.
